50 Years of The Wombles on Screen
2023 marks the 50th anniversary of The Wombles on screen. The original eco-warriors have a message that is even more important than when Elizabeth Beresford published the original stories in 1968. The Wombles came out of hibernation at the beginning of 2020 to spread their positive message of local environmentalism, working with a wide range of charitable partners to inspire a new generation of families.
The Wombles aim to educate and inspire us all to protect our local environments, encourage recycling, reduce waste and reuse old items instead of sending them to landfill. As in the past, The Wombles aim to bring local people together for community action while ensuring, through the use of quality content, that our messaging is fun and inclusive.

The Wombles take to YouTube with stories, cooking, gardening and crafts!
In 2023 we will be launching the YouTube channel for the beloved children’s brand The Wombles. Known to both young and old, The Wombles were created in 1968 and ran for over 30 years, dominating the world of television, film, books, music and live performance. 2023 marks 50 years of The Wombles first appearing on screen. As part of the anniversary year we are filming a series of web videos, aimed at children aged 6-12. The show will span across three different categories; Cooking, Gardening and Arts & Crafts.
We have cast talent to present each 3-5 minute episode, which will provide our audience with easy how-to-make activities they can do at home. The videos aim to be entertaining, informative, humorous and most of all fun. They will also align with The Wombles’ ecological ethos of reusing, recycling and repurposing items around the house. Examples of this may be creating a flower pot from an old soup can, learning how to make your own jam or making sculptures out of papier maché.
